World Project Fair

  • This adventure begun in March 2019, as a need from our Rotary Club of Brownsville Sunrise to partner with other clubs in their international projects. This idea started as a Bi-District Project Fair with the help of our District 5930 of South Texas and District 4130 from Northern Mexico. As this Project Fair started to become a reality, more Districts were added to the list of participants. At this point we change the name to Multi-District Project Fair.

GLOBAL PROJECTS

Rotary began fighting polio in 1985 and kept the pressure on as worldwide cases plummeted from 350,000 per year to several hundred. When India went off the list of endemic countries in 2012, we took one more step toward eradicating a human disease from the earth for only the second time in history. Now, Rotary and its partners are This Close to making that dream a reality. Sunrise Club donates to Rotary International each year to fight the cause.

Good Neighbor Settlement House Project

In conjunction with all Brownsville Rotary Clubs, a grant was approved to provide necessary equipment, supplies, and other related items for a functioning free health clinic at The Good Neighbor Settlement House. The non-profit facility will provide care, prescription assistance, and more to its homeless clientele. In addition, club members prepare and serve food multiple times a year during a day of service for GNSH.

Rotaract & Interact

Sunrise Rotary invest in young leaders. Club members serve as sponsors that guide, mentor, support, and work alongside young students as they build leadership skills and serve their community. Sponsored clubs include Rotaract Club at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Brownsville Sunrise New Generation Interact Club at Early College High School and James Pace High School. In addition, our club also sponsors Interacts to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening. The scholarship is awarded for men and women of high school age who are finishing their junior year. The program prepares students for leadership roles in their senior year and beyond.
