Rotarians are People of Action
Service Above Self

We channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of the club activity. If you would like to do more in Brownsville Sunrise Rotary and use your professional expertise to help others, join one of five Rotary’s Avenues of Service.

Our commitment is to eradicate the world from polio paralyzing disease.

Club members put together school supplies for at-risk elementary school children each year. These children have a higher probability of dropping out if not given a helping hand to succeed.

The E-Club of North Texas works with the Texas Dept of Health Services in Harlingen for their Bi-National TB ( Tuberculosis) program in Mexico between Matamoros and Reynosa. The Rotary Club of Brownsville Sunrise was able to participate this year.

The club provided food and supplies for MDR TB patients. This year they will have about 40 families. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, we met the nurses from Matamoros and Reynosa Tamaulipas, Mexico at Walmart in Matamoros to purchase the items from a list provided by the health dept.

PARKING LOT PROJECT
BLOOD DRIVE
FLAG PROJECT

As the largest fundraiser for Sunrise club, members put in close to 3,500 volunteer hours for its car-parking operation during the Charro Days festivities every February. Texas Southmost College lends the International, Technology, Education and Commerce Center parking lot. Funds were raised for local initiatives benefiting the community.

Donate blood and become a hero

For a nominal contribution, homes and businesses join in the Red, White and Blue community on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Veterans Day. Members place a 3 by 5 ft. United States Flag on a 10-ft. pole, if the weather permits, early in the morning. At the end of the day, flags are removed by Rotarians and stored properly.  Flag Applications
